There are two authors of this personal finance blog, “IT Man” and “The Banker”

IT Man

IT Man is from Denmark, but he lives with his family near London in England. He is in his 40′ties and works as a systems engineer for a very large IT company where he specialises in software for monitoring networks and servers.

Why I made this blog

I found that I kept writing personal finance information and tips for myself so I would be able to find it again if needed. One day I googled “personal finance blog” and I realised, that what this world really needs is another personal finance blog; not. Well, since I’m writing this stuff down anyway, I might as well make it public.
I will write about shares I invest in, and why I decided to invest in them. I will write about financial products I’ve had experience with. I will write about things I’ve learnt as it applies to the field of personal finance.

How my interest in personal finance matters started

For me, my road to financial literacy started when I bought Intuit’s Quicken. Using Quicken, for the first time ever, I could see how I was actually spending my money. Some categories of spending self-evidently needed to be reduced, and by tracking them, I succeeded in doing that. My first real experience with shares was when I bought some shares in the company I then worked for as they did an IPO. I didn’t get any special pricing, and the share price soon dropped. It recover within a year, and in fact doubled. I sold and re-invested the money in other shares. The rest is history…

The Banker

The Banker is also from Denmark but he lives in central London. He is in his late 20′ies and works for one of the largest banks in the UK as a personal banker. He is currently undertaking training so he can be certified as an Independent Financial Advisor. This does not mean that anything he writes on this blog constitutes financial advice even though it might be a good idea. For more on that, see the disclaimer.
